Meet The Griff

Your spot for rest and adventure. This is simple pleasure nestled in Vermont's Mad River Valley. Cozy beds, great coffee, and the mountains at your fingertips. Sleep in. Get outside. Indulge in this magic slice of Vermont. The Griff is solar-powered and just two miles from both Sugarbush's Mount Ellen and Mad River Glen.

The Griff was built as a farmhouse in 1826. Originally located on 46 acres adjacent to the Mill Brook, a tributary of the Mad River. In 1946, Allen and Nancy Clark bought it without electricity, running water, or central heat, and converted it into one of the Valley's first lodges to welcome skiers from Mad River Glen.

Meet Your Innkeepers: Brady & Else

We fell in love during the most awkward time of our lives. High school. Shoutout to our beloved Pomfret School and that one fateful Spanish class in 2003 for connecting us -- we've been side by side ever since. Boston was our home for ten years prior to moving up to Vermont.  It took us a pandemic and a year spent in the Adirondacks to realize our longtime pipedream of owning an inn was not so far fetched after all.

We bought the former Mountain View Inn in December 2021 and renamed it "The Griff Inn," paying homage to both our last name and high school mascot: Griffin.

We couldn't be happier to call the Mad River Valley home. Looking forward to welcoming you soon!
